Stone Tools - Stoned To Death (2015)
The Time has come for another great local release... the time has come to get STONED!
Stone Tools are a barbaric thrashlords from the southern caves of Maine. The music that is played on Stone Tool's debut album is the kind of music summoned by riff gods using lightning bolts and ancient stone-based instruments. Don't believe me? Take a listen to Stoned To Death right now:

Monday 103
Local edition!
Sweet Teeth - Demo (2014)
Sweet Teeth are a riot grrrrrrrrl punk rock outfit out of Portland, Maine. They recently played with my buds in the psychedelic throwback, S.S. Cretins at The Oak & The Axe in Biddeford as well as starting the night off right at the Ramshackle Glory show a few weeks back.
Bandcamp
Buddusky - Two of Something (2014)
Buddusky are from a part of Maine I don't hear much about. That part being Mexico, Maine. Still, Buddusky are making the once home of bingo caller/carnival barker, Ed McMahon very proud by providing simple yet cool guitar and drum music to the state.

RIP Jason Molina
Black Mask. - Black Mask. (2012)
At first I though this was another Black "something" band but then I saw the period.
Get mad.

Scavenger - Cynical (2013)
Scavenger are a hardcore troupe from northern Maine that are quite reminiscent of early hardcore punk that requires a cassette player and big giant 80's speakers. Not bad, not bad.

Songs: Ohia - The Lioness (2000)
While clearly not as recognized as Magnolia Electric Co. or as truthfully and down right sad as Axxess & Ace (one of my favorite albums to play when I'm sad), The Lioness definitely has its moments of both sadness and glory that makes it stand out in my top three Jason Molina albums list.
Highlights include: "Lioness", "Being in Love", "Coxcomb Red", and "Nervous Bride"
Bonus:
Joe Beats's remix of "Coxcomb Red":

Monday XXXXXVI
I'm not even supposed to be here today.
Grazes - Demo '10 (2010)
Just a fine four song demo by the boys putting a fresh spin on punk rock, Grazes!
And by fresh, I mean, dirty...

Dope Body - Twenty Pound Brick (2009)
Speaking of dirty spins; Dope Body.
Dope Body recently released a Split with Child Bite (who also released a new album this year) that features songs from 'Twenty Pound Brick' along with a new album entitled, 'Natural History' on the Drag City label. I have yet to listen to 'Natural History' at this time... mostly because I just found out about it today on Last.fm.

Studying - Sophomoronic (2012)
Studying has a new album called 'Sophomoronic' (since it's their sophomore effort). Duh.
I like to listen these guys while I study. But unfortunately, I don't study a lot...
I should actually be studying right now, but...
whatever.

Ed Gein - It's a Shame...
Ed Gein - It's a Shame Your Family Can Be Torn Apart by Something as Simple as a Pack of Wild Dogs (2003)
Ed Gein is an everythingheavyandnoisycore band from Syracuse, New York. Their name comes from the American murderer and body snatcher who inspired the likes of Hollywood slayer stars Norman Bates, Leatherface, and Buffalo Bill (Wiki). He was the kind of guy who would invite someone over for dinner and keep them a little too late, someone he may have picked up from a local graveyard or an innocent hardware store owner. Someone good enough for his personal trophy collection and bone and skin collection. So yeah, he was a pretty fucked up guy, perfect for such a gruesome sounding band.
Over and under all the noise and hybrid grind stuff in 'It's a Shame...' are samples from the 2001 cult classic, Donnie Darko. I'll admit it, I'm a big fan.
Sorry for the lack of posts lately but all this finals/graduation/Berserk stuff is getting in my way...
I'll be relentlessly posting goodies for you all summer, I promise!

KYOTY - Loud walls-of-sound post metal from NH. Necks will break.
WARANIMAL - More like PartyAnimal; Thrashed out metal from P-town. Bodies will break.

WARANIMAL interview
GET BUSY!
Bonus:
My friend, just the other day, sent me a nice little link to KYOTY's demo! It's much more post rock than the previous stuff I've posted here but still totally awesome. I'd suggest that you use the bathroom before listening because 1) It's totally awesome and 2) every song starts with water splashing up on the shore and may cause a sudden need to piss your pants. Maybe the latter only affects me, I don't know, just a warning.
